The old stone gate pillars of the St. John Water Works still stand at the entrance to Lake Robertson, near Saint John, New Brunswick. In peak fall colour, the hardwoods close in overhead to form a golden canopy above the gated lane — a quiet piece of the city's history, tucked away in the woods.
